Yosemite valley sunrise With this past season’s notably scanty snowfall, the Yosemite summer is steamrolling along ahead of schedule. Here’s a quick sketch of the many activities our Scenic Wonders guests can partake in during the next several months. This is the height of the Sierra Nevada tourism season; if these delights pique your interest, remember to book a vacation cabin or cottage with us well in advance so you can be sure to enjoy them yourself!

Hiking & Driving the Scenery

There are a million things to do in Yosemite National Park, but ultimately the scenery always steals the show: the skyward lunge of massive granite rock, the sun shafts through the boulder-strewn conifer forest, the glint of a river or waterfall seen from far above, the ripples on a mountain-cradled lake. High summer and early fall are Yosemite at its most accessible. With the whole countryside opened up, from valley bottoms to alpine backcountry, it’s the ideal time to explore the park’s full breadth. Whether you’re a leisurely ambler or a hardcore hiker, Yosemite trails accommodate everyone: Stroll with the whole family to Bridalveil Falls, wander the world-famous sequoias of the Mariposa Grove, or tackle the park’s quintessential adventure by summiting Half Dome. And there’s plenty to see on an auto safari, too. Traverse one of America’s great scenic drives on the Tioga Road, which reaches California’s loftiest pass. Or steer your way to Glacier Point for one of the most celebrated vistas in the entire national park system.

Fun in the Sun

Take a dip beside a Merced River beach or ride its leisurely current on a raft. Pedal your way along more than dozen miles of paved bicycle paths on the floor of Yosemite Valley (or along the park's paved roadways). Or embark on a guided mule- or horseback ride out of one of the stables. And the kitchen of your Scenic Wonders cabin is the perfect place to prepare that defining hallmark of summertime: the picnic! There are numerous picnicking sites sprinkled across the park, from Wawona to Tenaya Lake, and each one has its own special charm. Convinced yet? It’s not too early to reserve yourself a Scenic Wonders cabin for next summer: Yosemite’s just too good to miss out on!
