Wawona

Wawona, found inside the Park just 4 miles from Yosemite's South Gate entrance, is located between the majestic Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias and the incomparable Yosemite Valley. Wawona is a historic pioneer town nestled at an elevation of 4,000 feet with the Merced River’s South Fork tributary running through it. Beautiful and picturesque, the area offers horseback riding, golfing, hiking trails and a historic pioneer center as a few of the many activities offered in this area. Other nearby attractions that are within 1 - 2 miles include its Yosemite Visitor Center, the historic Wawona Hotel with its unique dining room, the Wawona Library, the Yosemite Pioneer History Center, and the Wawona Stables. All are located within 45 minutes to Yosemite Valley’s main attractions.
