Tuolumne Meadows is a section of Yosemite Valley that runs along the Tuolumne River. Tuolumne Meadows is one of the more beautiful sections of Yosemite Valley, boasting a plethora of wildflowers throughout the spring, some of the best hiking in the park, and excellent rock climbing on the several domes scattered about the edges of the meadow.  This beautiful region of Yosemite National Park is a must see for anyone visiting in the spring or summer. Wildlife and Flowers in Tuolumne Meadows During the spring and summer Tuolumne Meadows is a burst of beautiful colors. This particular section of Yosemite National Park features over 1,000 different species of California wildflowers. Tuolumne Meadows is also home to a great deal of wildlife. On a hike through the area you might come across a deer, a wolf, rabbits, even a bear. Opportunities for photography abound throughout the meadow. It is one of the most photographed areas of Yosemite National Park.   This area also features a campground that is open during the spring, summer, and fall for those interested in roughing it. Hiking and Rock Climbing in Tuolumne Meadows Tuolumne Meadows is one of the premier locations in Yosemite National Park for hiking. The area features a wide variety of beginner, intermediate, and advanced hikes. Take the Soda Springs hike, considered an easy 1.5 mile trek, to see naturally carbonated water bubbling out of the ground. The Elizabeth Lake hike is a slightly harder five-mile hike that takes hikers to a glacier-carved lake at the foot of Unicorn Peak. If you're instead in a full day hike, consider the Glen Aulin hike which follows the Tuolumne River for 11 miles. Rock climbing is also particularly popular in Tuolumne Meadows. The area is surrounded by a number of domes that offer intermediate and advanced climbing. Major domes that can be climbed in Tuolumne Meadows include Stately Pleasure Dome, Daff Dome, Fairview Dome, and Lembert Dome. People flock to Tuolumne Meadows every year to climb these domes and enjoy the amazing scenery that surrounds them.
