Updated 4/11/2018

The extraordinary beauty of Yosemite was appreciated since the middle of the 19th century, and it was declared a National Park in 1890. Since its early days, it drew millions of visitors who came to enjoy its spectacular peaks, valleys, canyons, meadows and streams. Yosemite offers special rewards at any time of year, but most visitors come to the park during the spring and summer months.

Yosemite in April and May

Visiting Yosemite National Park in spring allows visitors to fully enjoy the waterfalls within the park area. Snowmelt at higher elevations fill even smaller springs with rushing water, and visitors will find many unnamed cascades along the edge of the valley. Wildflowers will not bloom until late May, but you may be able to catch a glimpse of California poppies at low elevations. Dogwood and redbud trees may also be blooming. Weather can be variable, so pack for adding and removing layers as needed. Visitors may encounter snow in early spring, and you may have to make adjustments to your hiking routes.

Yosemite in June, July and August

The summer season, June through September, brings hot weather and occasional rains to Yosemite. Thunderstorms may occur during afternoon hours. Most roads are free of snow and open to automobiles. May, June and July are prime wildflower blooms in Yosemite. Waterfalls may be significantly reduced, and some falls may dry up entirely. Summer is peak visitor season at the park, and many concessions may be filled to capacity.

Yosemite Accommodations

Scenic Wonders offers a number of lodging options within the park grounds. However, you may find it difficult to reserve a spot during the high tourist season. A number of accommodations are available outside the park grounds. However, these may increase the travel time needed to get to the park. You can reserve a cabin online today through our reservations section. We offer a variety of attractive cabins, apartments and homes for rental to parties of between 2 to 8 guests. Our lodgings provide greater comfort and privacy to visitors, with the same convenience of being within the park grounds. Spend your time seeing the grandeur of Yosemite National Park instead of traveling to your lodgings with our comfortable and convenient accommodations with internet and television.
