Yosemite National Park is an ideal place to take your children to experience the joy of a winter wonderland. Children who don't typically get to see snow as well as those that live in snowy areas can both revel in the beauty and excitement of winter in Yosemite. Among the favorite kid’s activities in Yosemite during winter are sledding, tubing, ice-skating, sleigh rides, and much more. Yosemite sledding in particular is a great way to experience the thrill of snow in one of the country’s most beautiful winter settings. Yosemite sledding and tubing are available to kids of all ages in a few different locations throughout the park. If you have your own sledding and tubing equipment, you can feel free to find a safe, clear hill to sled or tube down throughout the open areas of the park. For a little extra safety and proximity to amenities, try heading to Fish Camp. This snow play area is located about a mile south of Yosemite’s southern entrance. Here kids can enjoy free sledding and tubing down a fairly large hill. The Fish Camp snow area offers free sledding and tubing that is perfect for people who have brought their own snow sleds and inner tubes to the park. Badger Pass Ski Area for Sledding Another great place to enjoy Yosemite sledding and tubing is in the Badger Pass Ski Area. At Badger Pass there is a designated sledding and tubing area that kids of all ages are free to enjoy. The Yosemite tubing area in Badger Pass is designed for younger kids, but adults are also welcome to partake in the fun. Inner tubes can be rented from the lodge for about $15 per tube. Once you've had your fill of Yosemite tubing and sledding, kids can enjoy a number of other activities during winter in Yosemite. Curry Village offers ice skating, a perfect activity for the entire family to enjoy. Rent a pair of skates and spend an hour in the rink, then lounge by a cozy fire with a nice big cup of hot chocolate. From Tenaya Lodge, families can also embark on horse-drawn sleigh rides through the surrounding forest area. Sleigh rides cost about $20 for adults and $15 for children. It's recommended that you make a reservation in advance to ensure the time slot of your choice.
