Located on the banks of the Fresno River, Oakhurst is home to several interesting attractions and activities for the whole family, including Yosemite National Park, the Children's Museum of the Sierra, and the Golden Chain Theatre.

The lake and surrounding Oakhurst area are family-friendly spots, known best for their endless water activities. Fans of boating, fishing, water skiing, hiking, and mountain biking are encouraged to explore the area. Bass Lake is only 15 minutes from Yosemite’s South Gate, which makes it a convenient spot to lodge. Bass Lake is bit more developed than other regions of Yosemite.  Travelers will find grills, bars, markets, and even a Mexican restaurant in the Oakhurst area.

The Bass Lake/Oakhurst area is close to the following popular attractions: Yosemite Valley, Badger Pass, Glacier Point, Wawona Golf Course, and Mariposa Grove.

Things to do in Oakhurst

  • SHADOW OF THE GIANTS TRAIL

    Nelder Grove is the perfect place to wander among giant sequoias. This peaceful and soothing grove is also relatively undiscovered. Visit any time of year to see some of earth’s largest living things. Located above Oakhurst, off Sky Ranch Road.

  • FRESNO FLATS HISTORICAL PARK
    
Relive the nineteenth century in this historic village and go back in time with a visit to one-room schoolhouses or the jail, and experience the history of Eastern Madera County.

  • WILD WONDERFUL KING VINTAGE MUSEUM
