Explorers Retreat is one half of a duplex and is located inside Yosemite National Park in a small private development called Yosemite West. The home is centrally located to many of the Park's major attractions: Yosemite Valley is 20 minutes away - Glacier Point is 25-30 minutes - The Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoia Trees is 35 minutes and Yosemite Ski & Snowboard Resort is located 8 miles away. Explorers Retreat is one half of a duplex and is located inside Yosemite National Park in a small private development called Yosemite West. The home is centrally located to many of the Park's major attractions: Yosemite Valley is 20 minutes away - Glacier Point is 25-30 minutes - The Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoia Trees is 35 minutes and Yosemite Ski & Snowboard Resort is located 8 miles away. Great amenities include easy, flat parking for up to 3 cars (a rare find which makes travel so much easier in every season), Air Conditioning, plus free satellite internet (not fast enough for reliable video streaming and video calling).
On the 1st floor, you’ll enter to a large open area with two benches with storage — the perfect place to sit after a day out exploring to rest and remove your shoes and boots. You’ll also find a secondary living area complete with gas fireplace, sectional sofa, and satellite TV. A guest bedroom with a queen bed and a hallway bathroom with tub/shower combination are nearby. The 2nd guest bedroom on the 1st floor has a twin over full bunk bed with a twin trundle bed. Laundry facilities are also on the 1st floor.
On the second story, you’ll find the kitchen, dining/living room area with wood floors and knotty pine ceilings. The kitchen has granite counter tops, knotty alder cabinets, gas range, refrigerator, dishwasher, and microwave oven. Enjoy the view from the large 2nd floor balcony complete with a propane grill and dining table that seats six. The main living room (2nd floor) has a leather sectional, gas fireplace and flat screen HDTV/Blueray and satellite television. The dining area table seats eight plus there are 3 bar stools at the island counter. Also on the 2nd floor is a third bedroom with a queen bed. There is a full bathroom in the hallway upstairs. Explorers Retreat is one of the best locations in the park with all of the features you need to make your Yosemite vacation a wonderful experience!

Cabin was clean and the kitchen was well stocked. The welcome phone call our first night was a nice surprise. We couldn’t get the upstairs fireplace to work. I wasn’t going to bother calling about it, but since someone called us, I mentioned it and someone came in minutes to fix it. The only thing was that we were never able to shut it off again even after turning all the switches to off. But it was fine and we didn’t bother calling again. We would definitely recommend this place and Scenic Wonders in general.

Very cozy charming place to stay. Location was great for us. We were by all the spots we wanted to hike - Mariposa Grove, Taft Point, Sentinel Dome, Glacier Point, and Yosemite Valley. Enjoyed the small details that were included like having coffee + hot chocolate + some basic seasonings and olive oil to cook with. Deck with the grill made dinners very enjoyable.

This house was very clean and comfortable! Perfectly located away from the crowds and 30 Mins to Glacier point, which has the most amazing views. See less check-in and everything in the house was functioning well. I would definitely choose Scenic Wonders on our next Yosemite trip!

Unit was very clean, and the kitchen was well stocked with equipment to do all our cooking. We needed the propane to be replaced, and it was done very promptly. My only suggestion would be 2 double beds instead of the bunk beds. Our family had a wonderful time. thank you.

Wonderful winter stay. Can’t beat being inside the national park with several feet of snow. Roads well plowed in the neighborhood. The house was super clean with comfortable beds. Flat driveway and easy keyless entry. Wifi was decent enough to email but not much more. Management was super responsive to bring us coffee filters since there were none in the unit. Well equipped kitchen. But few condiments. No shampoo. So Come supplied:) Will definitely stay again! Really enjoyed our stay here.

Great stay, but there were some very loud sounds at night from the downstairs queen bedroom. Something kept turning on and off for several hours. The generator was also really loud, but we're glad you had that when the power went out.

Explorers Retreat was very clean. When we needed more propane one evening, some was brought over in 5 minutes. The house is perfect for 3 people. The parking is great. The internet very good for Yosemite West. We had no problem contacting management with questions. Large refrigerator, nice kitchen. We brought all our own food, so we cooked every night. Having A/C was great after a hot hike. All three of us really enjoyed our stay.

The location ended up to be perfect for going in the various directions we wanted to go. The house had everything we needed and was very clean and neat. The info manual was very helpful, especially the laminated maps. I wish we had more time to explore the trails near the house.

The place was as advertised. Very clean, kitchen essentials complete including coffee brewer, hot chocolate etc. When there was a small problem with kitchen sink, scenic wonders team member arrived within minutes of call. Roads were kept clear of snow by team, with plow going through streets twice in the morning. Thank you for helping make our Yosemite vacation so memorable. Would stay here again.
