Description

A Kojoji Hela Koca in the language of the Miwok Indians translates to ‘A Blue Sky Lodge’. This custom-built house is the blend of fine craftsmanship and rich materials found in the Art Deco period from 1910 through the 1930s. It hearkens to a time of luxury, glamour, and elegance. This home comfortably sleeps 7. The master bedroom has a king bed and attached bathroom with large soaking tub. There is one room with a queen bed and one room with a full bed. The private library has a twin size sofa bed. This home has a large TV with a blue ray player, sorry no satellite TV or WiFi. This home has Air Conditioning!
Yosemite National Park is a neighbor of A Kojoji Hela Koca where ‘Dress Circle’ seats await you for a direct vista of this national treasure. The lofty ‘Great Room’ and accompanying loft is the perfect spot during any of the four seasons to experience this natural woodland setting with sunlight streaming through the windows. The gourmet kitchen is designed for ease in preparing and enjoying a sumptuous meal while overlooking the park. This house includes an octagonal tower on two levels, a great room, large patio, three (03) bedrooms plus a library, laundry, and two and a half baths (including a master bath suite). There is a California King bed, Queen bed, Double bed, and open out twin with an occupancy rating for 10. Comfort and ambiance are provided by ductless heating and air conditioning, along with a gas fireplace and barbeque. Sit on the deck, curl up in a cozy corner, read a good book by the fireside, relax in the claw-foot tub, slow the pace down, reconnect to family and friends. Come and be on the edge of Yosemite National Park in a house made for enjoying life and being a part of a breathtaking adventure. The Art Deco theme is woven into the wide array of textures and shapes from its exterior octagonal tower to its interior polished granite fireplace wall. A Blue Sky Lodge is a pastiche of many different styles, united in their celebration of the forest just outside its windows. Yosemite National Park is a neighbor of A Kojoji Hela Koca where ‘Dress Circle’ seats await you for a direct vista of this national treasure. From the lofty ‘Great Room’ with its built-in acoustics; play an instrument in the loft, read a book by the fireplace, do a jigsaw on the granite table, enjoy the sunlight streaming in the windows … and be ready for all that jazz. The design and interior decoration of this house was influenced by the bold geometric forms of Art Deco; the bright colors of the era; the updated craftsmanship of the furniture and the exotic styles of China and Japan, India, Persia, ancient Egypt, as well as Incan and Mayan art. Come to the house along its Art Deco railing of steel and timber, reminiscent of Frank Lloyd Wright’s arcs and spheres and enjoy the international mix of styles, including an exuberance of patterns and subtle pigments… much like the riot of colours within Yosemite in the spring or autumn. Enter A Blue Sky Lodge through its round blue door and get ready for a kitchen built by cooks. Our family’s pastime is cooking, baking…and enjoying a sumptuous meal together. We built the kitchen and granite island thinking of people who relish the culinary arts and whipping up a flavorful feast in this natural wood-land setting. Sit in the Picasso blue dining room chairs to enjoy great meals…while making great memories. The Master Bedroom on the first floor is a retreat. A chase lounge is adorned in a Breakers Blue Moonlight fabric and provides a place to grab a quick nap before entering the large master bath complete with a claw foot bathtub, peacock feathers in a feature wall, and Art Deco tile trim. This includes a recreation of the ‘1920 Flapper Fans’ in the tile baseboards combined with a classic mix of Egyptian and Mayan motifs in the large walk-in shower. The upstairs bedrooms have ample closet space to put the bags in and grab the shorts or hiking pants for a long walk. Art Deco overhead lamps and window trim with red oak pyramids continue the theme. Want to get away? The library tucked into the 2nd floor is a good start. The ‘whimsical’ loveseats with their Georgio Pewter fabric will keep one guessing on the best seating arrangement for that room. And the loft? Built for a choir to perform for a small wedding below. The musical ‘S’ iron railing pattern is testament to our family’s love of music … along with cooking. The loft has circular cocktail ottoman wrapped in a metric blue Caribbean fabric that is just right for catching a glimpse of a deer or a chickaree (Douglas squirrel) out its adjacent paned window. And the twin high-back chairs facing the glory of Yosemite are perfect for unwinding, getting inspired, doing a bit of thought-provoking writing or sketching of the trees just outside the tower’s 8-sided space. A Blue Sky Lodge (A Kojoji Hela Koca) is like an Art Deco design -- timeless because of its futuristic characteristics, wrapped in a green (or white) blanket of the natural surroundings. Rich color, bold lines and symmetrical shapes help brand this house as unique. Sit on the deck, curl up in a cozy corner, slow the pace down, reconnect to family and friends. Come and be on the edge of Yosemite National Park, in a house made for enjoying life. NOTE: The name of this house has been carefully selected by our family to remember one of the Native American groups who lived in the Sierra Nevada mountains around what is now known as Yosemite. We also tried to include the Miwok geometric forms and lines in the materials and fabrics we chose, including the horizontal lines, zigzags, small triangles, rectangles, arrowheads and diamond shapes that are found in the designs they created.

This house was amazing. Nice, quiet neighborhood in a great location. The house was beautiful and the layout is very efficient. My family LOVED it. Great amenities and we enjoyed cooking in the kitchen. We regretted not bringing more food or having a grocery store nearby because we wanted to cook more! We appreciated the extra blankets.

I loved my stay in Blue Sky Lodge! Location is hard to beat and the place itself was top-notch. All linens were of high quality, the entire house was completely spotless upon arrival, and communication with Scenic Wonders was easy. I will definitely be returning to this place and recommend it to others looking for accommodations in Yosemite!

Everything was fantastic! We loved A Blue Sky Lodge. It was very important to have had the landline to call management about the fires.

We had a fantastic stay. The support prior to arrival by Celia was timely, helpful and thorough which was much appreciated. Our accommodations were pristine - clean, plentiful in amenities, well maintained - and of course in a setting like none other! My family of 7 including 3 adults and 4 kids ages 18 mos, 5, 5, and 6 years old all had a fantastic time and loved our accommodations - they didn't want to leave! We will definitely be back. The only thing I would say is signage to indicate that the refrigeration takes a while (ie: overnight) to fully cool down. Otherwise we loved it and will be back!

The home was amazing and clean. The welcome phone call was a great touch to make sure we were all settled and had what we needed. We had issues figuring out how to turn the heat on, and there was someone to help in less than 10 minutes. Great stay. Thank you again!

A well appointed house. Lots of towels, no shortage in the kitchen, everything from strainers to serving bowls. Games provided - we bought and finished and left a 500 piece puzzle of Yosemite. Enjoy! Only caution - not for the handicapped. Many steps to the front door. Its about 30 to 40 minutes to the park. You wont be sorry you rented.

I appreciated the quality of the house. It was clean, the beds were very comfortable, and it was very spacious. There are a couple of areas for improvement: Get some salt and pepper shakers Include more linens. It is advertised as a capacity of 10, but only had the linens and blankets to sleep 6. Thanks for the opportunity to stay there.
