Yosemite Falls & Its Comets of Water

I greet you from Yosemite
Arriving at the Valley floor this Sunday morning, I was happy to see that Ribbon Fall was beautifully pouring over the cliff wall near El Capitan!!! Photographers and nature lovers were happy.
A friend noticed that there was no snow on the rim of Yosemite Valley. This was a warm storm... there would be only one inch of snow for the Badger Pass Ski Resort....more storms and a few feet of snow are needed to reopen Badger Pass. With these mixed conditions....spring in the winter... available to the Park visitors are...Ice skating at the Curry Village Rink....Bicycle rentals in the Valley..... Viewing the tremendous spring-like conditions of the Yosemite Valley Waterfalls !!!
This storm also covered the Yosemite Valley canyon walls with ephemeral cascades and waterfalls spilling over from the new mountain springs above. They are here today and gone tomorrow. These storm-borne falls add to the wonder and splendor of the Valley.
These storms also increase the volume and power of all the major Yosemite Valley waterfalls. The Upper and Lower Yosemite Falls were VOLUMINOUS!!! The mist of the falls was beautiful. As the large volume of water from the Upper Fall leaps over and away from the cliff, it is mixed with air and whitened.
The Lower Fall had a beautiful feathery pattern with sudden shooting stars of water. The spray and mist separate into comets or rockets, as some describe the patterns. The projectiles were being shot in rapid succession. We couldn't take our eyes off of this beautiful sight.
The wind not only blew my hat off, but blew the mist to one side. I noticed the waterwheels....the effect of a revolving wheel of water. Because of the spray of the waterfall, most of the visitors didn't even realize, that it had started raining again.
The clouds and the mist....and the hope of finding a rainbow....photographers and nature lovers had joy in their hearts.

Waterfalls continue to fascinate us and leave beautiful impressions on hearts...and minds.
