Friends, I greet you from Yosemite. Epiphany...the magi were following the light of the star. For photographers, it's all about the light. Driving home from church, the light was perfect, so I stopped and took pics of El Capitan capped with clouds. Photographers from all over the world come to Yosemite in the pursuit of capturing beautiful images of the mountains. The joy of following the light never ceases. Everyone is looking for the next best shot. To do so you must be focused!!! Photography teaches you to be more observant of nature. Everyone takes and shares pictures these days. Some landscape photographers are artists who have an eye for the beauty of nature, the dramatic story a photograph can tell....and the feelings it can invoke. PHIL HAWKINS is a local photographer whose photographs of Yosemite National Park display his talent as an ARTIST. His inspirational compositions and colors are amazing. Screen Shot 2014-12-30 at 12.43.06 PM Looking at his pictures, will make you want to travel to Yosemite, and for some of us old-timers, memories of special times in Yosemite will come flooding back. His pictures will inspire you to take out the old camera again....or buy a new iPod... to take some beautiful pictures of your own. Phil is an award winning landscape photographer. He has devoted much of his time...beginning in high school to learning his craft. After discovering the beauty of Yosemite in 1981, he has been inspired to take beautiful pictures in Yosemite ever since. He shares his love of photography and Yosemite by leading photography workshops...in all seasons.....and....in special conditions. UPCOMING WORKSHOPS

The Yosemite Winter Weekend and Week Long Workshops, The Yosemite Horsetail Fall Weekend and Week Long Workshops, The Yosemite Early Spring Week Workshop, and more. His workshops website also shows the photographs taken by some of his students. Some testimonials: Phil, thanks for the education on taking the best pictures possible......and teaching me to "see" the scene through the viewfinder and shoot in the manual mode.....great memories from a wonderful week... Today I stopped by the Yosemite Valley Visitor Center to see the exhibit on photographers....old timers... to Ansel Adams.....to contemporary ones. In his Ansel Adams An Autobiography, he recalls, "one cold, moonless summer evening camped out at 10,000 ft. at Fletcher Lake.....the glitter majesty ...and mystery.....of the stars. The only things in my life that compatibly exist with this grand universe are the creative works of the human spirit. This Gaelic verse echoes everything I believe: I know that I am one with beauty And that my comrades are one. Let our souls be mountains, Let our spirits be stars, Let our hearts be worlds." In a letter from his book, Ansel writes about love: .... "and flashing another kind of light from within." Plan joining Phil on one of his workshops. Accommodations for his students can be booked with Scenic Wonders. In conclusion: Raise your eyes and look about.....your heart shall throb and overflow.... Take a picture!!! Let the natural beauty of Yosemite inspire the "artist" in you!!! Another terrific day in Yosemite.
