Description
This House is a 3 story, 4 bedroom duplex with a 3 bedroom 2 bath unit on the upper level, and a 1 bedroom, 1 bath unit on the lower level. The main floor to the upper-level unit has a fully-equipped kitchen, dining area, den, and living room, and has an open floor plan with plenty of seating to accommodate your family with ease. The living room has a propane fireplace, satellite television with DVD player. The sliding glass door provides access to a large deck equipped with a gas BBQ and 2 tables with chairs.
On the upper level unit on the main floor down a hallway you have access to 2 bedrooms, each has a queen sized bed and built-in drawers with mirror. One bedroom has a private bath; the other has a shared bath. These two bedrooms share a deck that overlooks the cozy forest, deliciously scented with cedar and pine trees. Upstairs is the 3rd bedroom, with a bath. The bedroom has 2 queen-sized beds and a small balcony.
On the lower level, we have Hutchings Apt, which has 1 bedroom with a queen bed, and 1 full size bathroom. This unit has galley style kitchen, and cozy living room. This small apartment may accommodate 2 guests. Together Hutching's Cabin and Apartment accommodate up to 10 guests. There is no interconnecting door.

It was perfect for our groups of 11.
Everyone slept great in their respective rooms, which were nice and warm during the winter storm
The apartment kitchen was fully supplied with pots/pans/plates/cups/cutlery.

The house was a perfect place for a family vacation that included two young adults with significant others, parents, and younger siblings. Everyone had enough space to have privacy as needed as well as a wonderful living room and kitchen to gather as a group. We appreciated the short drive to the Valley floor as well as easy access to Mariposa. We felt we were in a great location with many hiking options for all fitness levels and beautiful surroundings. The neighborhood was quiet and we all slept well. The kitchen was nicely set up and cooking for a crowd was easy.
We had a lovely time together, and would happily return in the future.

In general our stay was great. Clearly the house could use some updating / refreshing. The most valuable thing that you could do to make the stay more pleasant is to add wifi.

Scenic Wonders was an absolute star performer. The reservation process was excellent. Great info, execution and communication. We were at Yosemite and stayed in Hutchins Cabin. It was EXACTLY as described. Nothing more, nothing less. I looked at the reviews of the place going in and they were all accurate. Everything on the list was there. As a family, were very familiar with rental homes for vacations. Yosemite West is a bit different because it is in Yosemite and one just cant run out to a Safeway to pick up additional food or whatnot. Knowing this, we did a massive shop going in. However, Hutchings Cabin was stripped more than even any of the reviews shared. Literally, lamps are bolted to the walls and nearly all closets are owners reserve. There were no pens or pencils or a note pad. Typically rental homes have some useful left-by-other-guests, aluminum foil, saran wrap, pepper, etc. Nothing. As theres no washer/dryer (noted in property listing), the cleaning staff can probably clean the place in half an hour. Not complaining, but we didnt look around at other places. All told, excellent location, excellent user experience with Scenic Wonders!

The cabin is very nicely appointed and very clean. The cabin is very large, but it maintains a cozy feeling at the same time. The beds were very comfortable and the living room furniture was super comfortable too. The kitchen had all the items we needed. The heater worked.
Check in was easy.
The one item lacking was there wasn't any shampoo in the bathrooms.

The staff at scenic wonders is great -very responsive and helpful, couldn't ask for more. Our biggest disappointment, and it was significant, was how hot it stayed in the cabin. It didn't cool off enough to be comfortable until 9:00 or so at night, and then it was only tolerable due to the fans that we had. We kept the windows open, but it just wasn't enough.There is no way we could have stayed there during the day - we just got by at night, and then, some of us woke up too hot. The owners should put in central a/c or window units. Also, in the west bedroom, the sun heats that room up an extra amount - so it gets very hot in there. We finally asked for a sheet to cover the window during the day to reduce the heat. Same thing on the west side at the dining room - afternoon sun makes the place burn up. I think if some dark curtains were added all around, it might make it a little cooler all over the house. The lack of air conditioning is the reason for the 3 rating rather than a 4-5.
Additionally, the house definitely could use some updating - everything looks like its 60 years old.
We thought the location was great, but I don't think I would stay there again without air conditioning. Just too hot.
We do appreciate the help from the S.W. staff - you guys were awesome! Thanks for all you did!

The house was large and easily accommodated all 8 of us. Even though it was the mountains, it was hot and while there were plenty of fans to cool off with, AC would have been a welcome addition. The house had most everything we needed and was very clean, however, it could use some updating. The lack of wifi was a challenge, but we appreciated the ability to sit in our car outside the Scenic Wonders business office and respond to work emails. The location in Yosemite West was great, and we would recommend that location to others.

The house was an outstanding fit for our group of 8. The bedrooms were large and had plenty of storage (although a few more hangers in the closet would be nice). The 4 bathrooms made getting ready for our hikes in the morning very efficient and allowed all of us to clean up quickly after our hikes. The location of the house was convenient for quickly traveling to all portions of the park. In this rental price range the house should have a washer and dryer as well as WiFi service. With those additions the house would clearly be a five star rental. When we come back to Yosemite we would certainly consider renting this property again.

We noticed the improvements that you have done to this property and we are very happy with the new oven, it worked very well and was a great improvement over the old one that was there in previous years that we have stayed there. I really liked the coffee maker also...nice to have coffee stay warm with the new insulated pot.
One thing we did want to let you know is that my dad accidentally broke 2 wine glasses while cleaning up the dishes during our stay. Really sorry about that. The one thing that we did have difficulties with was the kitchen sink faucet. The handle was very hard to lift to turn on and it had to be full blast for the hot water to come through. We are hoping that this will be changed out or fixed next year when we come back.
Other than the sink faucet, you have done a terrific job of improving this property. Thank You so much. Have a great day and we will see you next year!

The place is great, the house is big and the reactivity of Scenic Wonders when something was missing was amazing. However, the oven is in poor condition (the bottom oven didn't work and only the lower grill of the upper oven is working, so it was not possible to use the broil function) and something to hang the wet clothes was missing which is pretty important when you come in winter.

The house was spacious and clean. Reservations went smoothly and well. We very much appreciated a credit with an unfortunate fire and power outage.
We would rent again as the rental and management was great. The only improvement (if possible) would be in case of a power outage have a person check on the tenants and fill bbq propane. There is no cell phone reception at unit and with power out, house phone didn't work either to call scenic wonders for help with propane, generator or flashlights. Thank you again for a great rental.

Great cabin in a great location. The oven was too complicated. We couldn't figure out how to turn it on so we had to use the oven downstairs. Some basic instructions would be helpful. The family room seemed a little too dark. Some more lights would have been nice. Overall we had a great stay.
